South India covers the most beautiful places in India. It is surrounded by sea from the 3 sides- Arabian sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian ocean. Cochin
The port town of Cochin is a great leisure destination- lines of mangroves and coconut trees on the backwaters, ancient churches and forts. You can enjoy here at Fort Cochin which is famous for Chinese fishing nets, European style buildings and beaches. Marine drive is also a place to relax and view the best sunset. One can also enjoy at the Cherai beach- play around and relax. Also do not miss out Willingdon island- there are beautiful walkways and jetty's on this island.

Munnar
This hill station is located at the conflux of 3 mountain streams. It has an exotic range of flora- sprawling tea plantations and grasslands. It is famous for the Neelakurinji flower that blooms in every 12 years. It also has the highest peak in South India- Anaimudi. The places of interest here are Mattupetty- it is known for a dam and a beautiful lake. One can enjoy boating here. Anaimudi peak also offers scenic views and one can also go for trekking here. Echo point is also interesting; it is a scenic point and you can enjoy boating here.

Allepey
Fondly called as the Venice of East, Allepey has a number of waterways, canals, lagoons and lakes. It is a charming backwater destination. The highlight here is the houseboat cruise; one can enjoy the backwaters, banks and villages.

Periyar
Periyar is better known for Periyar national park and tiger reserve in Thekkady. The very name of Thekkady conjures up an image of elephants, hills and spice scented plantations. The artificial lake here is a major highlight apart from elephant rides and cruises on the lake and treks to the ruined Mangaladevi temple. The best season to visit the reserve is from November to April. The best way to see the reserve is an elephant ride in the deep jungle.
