Valley of Flowers - Hemkund Sahib

Haridwar Valley of Flowers

Region: Garhwal Himalayas
Season: Mid-June to early October

The Valley of Flowers, located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, came to global attention after British mountaineer Frank S. Smythe reached the valley in 1931 while returning from the Kamet expedition. Locally known as Bhyundar Valley after the Pushpawati River, this high-altitude alpine meadow is famed for its biodiversity. Home to over 600 species of flowering plants including Brahma Kamal, Himalayan Blue Poppy, Cobra Lily, and Himalayan Edelweiss, the valley is surrounded by snow-clad peaks. Declared a National Park in 1982 and later recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it spans approximately 87.5 sq km and attracts nature lovers and trekkers worldwide.
