Day 01: Arrive Delhi
Arrive in Delhi, the capital city of India. After check-in at the hotel, the day
is reserved for rest and orientation. Later, enjoy a guided introduction to the
city covering Old Delhi, including a visit to the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and Raj
Ghat, followed by a drive past India Gate and the President’s House. Overnight
stay in Delhi.
Day 02: Delhi – Leh
Transfer to the airport for your journey to Leh. On arrival, transfer to the
hotel and check in. The rest of the day is kept free for acclimatization to the
high altitude. In the afternoon, enjoy a gentle walk through Leh town (approx.
3500 m), visiting Leh Market, Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, and Leh Gompa. This walk
helps with gradual acclimatization. Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 03: Spituk – Zingchen (3700 m | 4–5 hrs)
The trek begins from Spituk, following an old jeep track across dry and exposed
terrain, making sun protection and adequate hydration important. After a few
hours, the landscape gradually turns greener as the trail enters the Zingchen
Valley, where the Rumbak River meets the Indus. Camp is set at Zingchen, a small
settlement whose name means “big field.” The rest of the day is spent relaxing
and enjoying the tranquil surroundings.
Day 04: Zingchen – Rumbak (3900 m | 3–4 hrs)
Today the trail enters Hemis National Park, a protected area known for its rich
high-altitude wildlife, including blue sheep, Ladakhi urial, marmots, and the
elusive snow leopard. The gradual ascent passes through a narrow gorge, offering
occasional views of the Stok Range. Rumbak village is well known as a base for
snow leopard research and conservation. Overnight stay at Rumbak.
Day 05: Rumbak – Mancarmo via Stok La (4900 m | 5–6 hrs)
The ascent to Stok La begins gradually before becoming steeper near the pass.
From the top, sweeping views of the Indus Valley and the colorful rock formations
of the Stok Range reward the effort. After crossing the pass, the trail descends
towards Mancarmo, a summer pasture used by villagers from Stok and also a base
camp area for Stok Kangri expeditions. Overnight stay at the campsite.
Day 06: Mancarmo – Stok – Leh (3–4 hrs)
Descend through a narrow valley characterized by striking rock formations to
reach Stok village. Visit Stok Palace, built in the 19th century and now serving
as a museum housing royal artifacts, thangkas, jewelry, and ceremonial items of
the former Ladakhi royal family. Later, drive back to Leh. Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 07: Leh Sightseeing
Proceed for an Indus Valley monastery tour. Visit Shey Monastery, the ancient
capital of Ladakh, known for its large gold-gilded statue of Buddha. Continue to
Thiksey Monastery, an impressive hilltop complex with a towering statue of
Maitreya Buddha. Later, visit Hemis Monastery, one of the largest and wealthiest
monasteries in Ladakh, renowned for its annual festival dedicated to Guru
Padmasambhava. Return to Leh for overnight stay.
Day 08: Leh – Delhi
Transfer to the airport for your journey to Delhi. On arrival, check in at the
hotel. Later, explore highlights of New Delhi, including Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub
Minar, and the Lotus Temple. Overnight stay in Delhi.
Day 09: Delhi – Agra – Delhi (Optional)
Optional full-day excursion to Agra, visiting the Taj Mahal, one of the world’s
most celebrated monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also explore Agra
Fort, a massive red sandstone fortress that played a central role during the
Mughal era. Return to Delhi by evening.
Day 10: Depart Delhi
Tour concludes with a timely transfer for onward travel, carrying memories of
Ladakh’s dramatic landscapes, rich culture, and rewarding trekking experience.
