It is believed that trekking in India began in the Darjeeling region several decades ago. Trekking, or traveling on foot along mountain trails, is an experience that offers unmatched closeness to nature. Darjeeling presents some of the most scenic trekking routes in the Eastern Himalayas, where the charm and mystery of the mountains unfold gradually as trekkers pass through dense forests, verdant meadows, and quiet hamlets seemingly untouched by time. The Sandakphu–Singalila Trek allows exploration of pristine Himalayan interiors, offering expansive landscapes and dramatic mountain vistas.
Day 01: Darjeeling
Arrival followed by a traditional welcome and transfer to Darjeeling. After permit formalities, check in at the hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax and acclimatize.

Day 02: Tiger Hill Sunrise & Darjeeling Sightseeing
Early morning excursion to Tiger Hill, renowned for its panoramic sunrise views over Kanchenjunga and the Eastern Himalayan peaks. After breakfast, proceed for a guided sightseeing tour of Darjeeling, covering key attractions and viewpoints. Return to the hotel for lunch. The afternoon is free to stroll along the Mall Road and soak in the hill-town atmosphere.

Day 03: Darjeeling – Manebhanjang – Tonglu
After an early morning drive to Manebhanjang, a small settlement inhabited largely by Buddhist Sherpa communities, the trek begins. The trail involves a steady ascent through dense forests and flower-covered hillsides. The first campsite at Tonglu (approximately 3,070 meters) offers breathtaking views of Kanchenjunga and neighboring peaks.
Overnight halt at Tonglu.
Day 04: Tonglu – Gairibas – Kalipokhari
Resume trekking from Tonglu to Gairibas (2,621 meters), a pleasant walk through bamboo groves, farmlands, and quaint villages. From Gairibas, the trail ascends steadily through rhododendron forests to reach Kalipokhari (3,170 meters), a sacred high-altitude lake.
Overnight halt at Kalipokhari.
Day 05: Kalipokhari – Sandakphu
The trek resumes toward Sandakphu, descending briefly to Bikhebhanjang, also known as the “Valley of Poison,” before a steep ascent to the summit. This section is demanding but rewarding, offering expansive mountain views. Sandakphu, at approximately 3,636 meters, is the highest point of the trek and commands one of the finest panoramic views in the Eastern Himalayas.

Day 06: Sandakphu – Phalut
Trek from Sandakphu to Phalut (around 3,600 meters), one of the loftiest peaks along the Singalila Ridge. This stretch is considered the most scenic section of the trek, passing through silver fir forests and open ridges. En route, pass Sabarkum, a solitary stone shelter on a ridge. Arrive at Phalut by afternoon.

Day 07: Phalut – Ramam
Descend from Phalut through pristine forests of chestnut, pine, and hemlock to the confluence of mountain streams near Gorkhey Khola, a picturesque resting spot. Continue trekking via Samandin to reach Ramam. The trail offers rich biodiversity and tranquil forest scenery.
Overnight stay at Ramam.
Day 08: Ramam – Rimbik
Trek from Ramam to Rimbik. The route begins with a relatively level walk before descending to Sirikhola, followed by a short but steep ascent and a gradual walk into Rimbik. The day’s trek provides scenic river crossings and forested paths.
Overnight stay at Rimbik.
Day 09: Rimbik – Darjeeling
Drive from Rimbik back to Darjeeling. The trekking portion of the tour concludes. The remainder of the day is free for relaxation or independent exploration.

Day 10: Departure
