Roopkund is situated in the Chamoli district of Garhwal in Uttarakhand. The road head for Roopkund is Lohajung, which lies approximately 155 km from Almora, 217 km from Nainital, and 235 km from Kathgodam. Roopkund is located at an altitude of about 5,029 meters in the lap of the majestic Trishul Massif. This high-altitude glacial lake is popularly known as the “Mystery Lake”, as hundreds of ancient human skeletons along with remains of horses were discovered here, believed to date back to a prehistoric period. The lake is surrounded by rock-strewn glaciers and snow-clad Himalayan peaks, offering a dramatic and haunting landscape.

The trek to Roopkund begins from Lohajung. The trail passes through lush green alpine meadows, dense conifer forests, and gently climbs along the slopes of rolling hills. The trek gradually winds its way alongside the Pindar River, presenting breathtaking views throughout the journey. Bedni Bugyal and Bhagwabasa are among the most scenic and memorable locations on this trek. During the blooming season, trekkers can spot the rare and sacred Brahma Kamal flower near Bhagwabasa.

Mysterious Roopkund Trek

Day 01: Arrival in Delhi
Upon arrival in Delhi, you will receive a traditional 'Swagat' (welcome). Our representative will assist you with the transfer to your hotel for check-in. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02: Delhi Sightseeing
After breakfast, the morning is at leisure. Later, enjoy a guided tour of Delhi beginning with Old Delhi. Visit the historic Red Fort, the grand Jama Masjid, and Raj Ghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. The afternoon tour includes visits to India Gate, President’s House, Humayun’s Tomb, Lotus Temple, and the iconic Qutub Minar. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 03: Delhi – Haridwar (200 km / 5 hrs)
In the morning, drive to Haridwar, one of the holiest cities in India and the gateway to the four sacred Char Dham pilgrimages. Situated at the foothills of the Shivalik range, Haridwar marks the point where the River Ganges descends from the mountains into the plains. In the evening, witness the enchanting Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, where thousands of oil lamps float on the sacred waters. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 04: Haridwar – Mundoli (285 km / 10 hrs)
After an early breakfast, drive to the small mountain hamlet of Mundoli (2,134 m). Lunch en route. Upon arrival, prepare for the trek. Dinner and overnight stay in a guest house or tents.

Day 05: Mundoli – Bekhal Tal (8 km / 5–7 hrs)
After breakfast, begin the trek with a packed lunch. Cross the Lahjung Pass (2,250 m) and continue to Bekhal Tal, a serene alpine lake set amidst picturesque surroundings. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 06: Bekhal Tal – Wan (10 km / 6–8 hrs)
Post breakfast, continue trekking with packed lunch towards Wan Village, passing via the scenic Brahm Tal. Dinner and overnight stay at a guest house or camp in Wan (2,340 m).


Day 07: Wan – Bedni Bugyal
After breakfast, begin the uphill trek to the vast alpine meadows of Bedni Bugyal (3,354 m), known for their expansive grasslands and stunning Himalayan views. Lunch en route. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 08: Bedni Bugyal
A day to explore the surrounding meadows and soak in the tranquil beauty of the region. Meals and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 09: Bedni Bugyal – Bhagwabasa (7 km / 3–4 hrs)
After breakfast, trek through rolling grasslands to Bhagwabasa (3,380 m). Lunch en route. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 10: Roopkund Excursion (8–10 hrs)
After breakfast, begin the trek with packed lunch to the legendary Roopkund Lake (5,029 m), situated near the base of Trishul (7,120 m) and Nanda Ghungti (6,310 m) peaks. The lake, famous for its ancient human remains, is surrounded by dramatic Himalayan scenery. Return to Bhagwabasa for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Bhagwabasa – Wan (6–8 hrs)
After breakfast, retrace the trail back to Wan with packed lunch. Dinner and overnight stay in guest house or tents.

Day 12: Wan – Mundoli (6–8 hrs)
Post breakfast, continue downhill to Mundoli via a direct trail. Lunch en route. Dinner and overnight stay in guest house or tents.

Day 13: Mundoli – Haridwar
After breakfast, drive to Haridwar. Arrive by late afternoon and check in at the hotel. In the evening, attend the Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 14: Haridwar – Delhi (200 km / 4–5 hrs)
After breakfast, visit Har Ki Pauri and proceed to Chandi Devi Temple by cable car. After lunch, drive to Delhi and check in at the hotel for a short stay.

Day 15: Departure from Delhi
