The tour takes you to Kaziranga National Park to see the one-horned Rhinoceros, to the land of fiercely independent Angami Warrior Nagas where you can trek in scenic valleys and witness the culturally diverse Naga tribes, and to Shillong, home of the Khasi Highland tribe, also known as the Scotland of the East, where you stay at the summer palace of the King of Tripura. You also visit the old capital of Assam, Sibsagar, the seat of power of the Ahom rulers. The Ahoms, who belonged to the Shan dynasty, came from Thailand and ruled Assam for 500 years before the British era.
Day 01: Guwahati
Warm welcome by our representative. Transfer to the hotel for check-in and relaxation. Overnight stay in Guwahati.
Day 02: Guwahati - Kaziranga
After breakfast, drive to Kaziranga National Park (220 km, 4 hrs). Check into a jungle resort on arrival. In the afternoon, visit a nearby tea estate and Tea Tribes village. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.
Day 03: Kaziranga
Early morning, explore the central range of Kaziranga National Park on an elephant safari. Later, explore the eastern range on a jeep safari, followed by a visit to the western range. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.
Day 04: Kaziranga - Kohima - Touphema
Drive to Kohima (225 km, 5 hrs). On arrival, proceed to Touphema Village Resort (41 km from Kohima) run by the Angami Naga village community. Enjoy a cultural presentation by the villagers. Overnight stay at Touphema Tourist Village.
Day 05: Touphema - Kohima - Dimori Cove
Explore Touphema village in the morning. After breakfast, drive to Kohima. Visit the WWII Cemetery, a historic site of one of the fiercest battles of the region. Explore The State Museum at Bayani Hill to learn about Naga culture, artifacts, handlooms, handicrafts, tools, jewelry, and weaponry. Proceed to Dimori Cove Guest House at Kepfiizha (Kigwema village) for lunch. This serves as a base for trekking Japfu Peak (3048 m), home of the world's tallest rhododendron tree, and Dzukou Valley, one of North-East India's best trekking valleys. Visit the nearby Angami village of Jakhama. Return to Kohima for overnight stay.
Day 06: Khonoma
Drive to Khonoma (20 km), an Angami tribal village and the home of Naga nationalist leader Angami Phizo. Explore the village, which is located on a scenic hillock and was the site of the last part of the Anglo-Naga war. Return to Kohima for overnight stay.
Day 07: Kohima - Dimapur - Sibsagar
After breakfast, drive to Sibsagar (225 km, 5 hrs). Explore the remains of the Ahom Kingdom, which ruled Assam for 500 years before British colonization. Overnight stay at Sibsagar.
Day 08: Sibsagar - Jorhat
Visit Tai Ahom Museum and the Maidams (burial mounds of Ahom kings) at Charaideo. In the afternoon, drive to Jorhat (1 hr), the "Tea Capital of the World." Check in at a Raj-era tea estate bungalow.
Day 09: Jorhat
Visit Thengal Mansion, a historic ancestral house of a tea planter located 15 km from Jorhat. Learn about Assamese culture and tradition. After lunch, walk through a nearby village to experience local life. Overnight stay at Jorhat.
Day 10: Jorhat - Shillong
Drive to Shillong (350 km, 6 hrs). En route, visit Borapani Umiam Lake, a scenic lake surrounded by sylvan hills. Check in at the Royal Heritage Tripura Castle, the summer palace of the King of Tripura, and enjoy a guided tour. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Day 11: Shillong
Morning sightseeing in Shillong, also called Scotland of the East, home to the Khasi Highland tribes. Visit Elephanta Falls, Ward Lake, Hydari Park, and Shillong Peak for panoramic views. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Day 12: Shillong - Guwahati
Drive to Guwahati (100 km, 2.5 hrs). Explore the city, gateway to North-East India. In the evening, enjoy a river cruise along the Brahmaputra, locally called 'Luit,' named for its reddish hue. Overnight stay at Guwahati.
Day 13: Guwahati
Explore Guwahati at leisure, visiting local attractions and markets. Overnight stay at Guwahati.
Day 14: Conclusion
